PARIS (Reuters) -Manufacturing stoppages at two Stellantis auto crops in France stem from shortages in parts from German provider Continental, two sources near Stellantis mentioned on Friday.
Continental was unable to ship its linked navigation and leisure programs to a Citroen plant in Rennes, one of many sources mentioned. The opposite mentioned a Peugeot (OTC:) plant in Sochaux was halted as a result of Continental had not delivered contact screens.
Continental declined to remark. Its shares opened flat on Friday morning.
French enterprise paper La Tribune first reported the information on Friday morning.
A Stellantis spokesperson mentioned the group wouldn’t touch upon particular person suppliers and reiterated that present stoppages at each crops had been associated to bottlenecks in semiconductor provide.
Stellantis mentioned on Wednesday that each crops can be stopped till subsequent week.
The group may also cease operations at its Melfi plant in southern Italy from late June 28 to July 2 because of a “structural” scarcity of semiconductors.
The sources couldn’t say at what level within the provide chain disruptions started, whether or not it was a problem with Continental’s manufacturing or due to one other provider’s issues.
